Merry Christmas

Sorry I have not posted anything in a while
but there hasn't been much to post about.
I hope to do better in the new year.

These are some free standing lace bookmarks
I made for my ladies in bible study.
We had a brunch on Dec. 8 so I
thought it would be nice to give a little gift.
They turned out very nice.

Christmas would not be Christmas unless
everyone received new pj's.
I made 13 pair.

The guys all got batman.

For the girls.
Some hearts.

And some owls.

Costume sewing

I do not like halloween!!
So there.  I said it.

Ethany in her pirate costume.

Jessica in her red fairy dress.

Also made a Dorothy from Wizard of Oz costume
and a hippie costume.
I hope to have pictures of them soon.
Now I have 2 winter jackets that need zippers
and some pants to hem.
Then I need to do some basic type sewing -
pants and tops for the girls.
Also start working on my Christmas list.

Not getting much done.

I have not been doing much sewing lately.
But really need to get started.
Christmas is coming you know!!
I started a list.
And I promised to make halloween costumes.
I made these batman pj's for my grandson the other day.

Then I had a pair of ladies pj's that needed mending.
The tie at the waist had ripped all the fabric
and I didn't know how to fix them.
They had been laying in the sewing room since last January.
So I just cut them into a small pair for my grandson.
Now I don't have to worry about fixing them anymore!!

A new purse.
Well, actually I made it a few years ago and
I decided I needed a new purse so I dug this one out.
It is made of suede upholstery fabric and
I did some embroidery on it.
I had actually made for a craft show and it never sold.
So I might as well use it.

A "BOO" halloween t-shirt.
Just for fun.

Back to school time

Well it's that time of year again.
And we had the big back pack dillemma.
Usually have to buy a couple a year because
the zippers break.
So I decided to make messenger bags.
Didn't have a pattern.
I was unsure of the size they should be.
But at least the size of a back pack.
So this is the results!

We also had a birthday this past week.
Ethany turned 8.
Chocolate cupcakes with green icing
and sparklers.

And Yet Another Skort

Are you tired of seeing skorts yet?
Rebecca, my 8 yr old granddaughter was over yesterday.
She liked the print fabric and wanted a top made out of it.
I asked if she wanted a matching skort.
Well yes, of course!!

The shorts underneath

The back elastic.

Are we having fun yet?

Another Skort

Sewing for school time.
Here is another skort made of chambray cotton from my stash
The ruffle and shorts underneath are a poly/cotton
from my stash.
I am trying very hard to use only stash fabric.
Earlier this week I was in the fabric store and saw
the cutest lady bug prints.
I am sorry to say it is still in the store!!

And I made a top to match.

made out of cotton lawn print.
I actually started it last year.
Kinda slow!!

I edged the sleeves and hem with eyelet trim.

Embroidery on t-shirts

We have friends from Vancouver coming to visit this weekend.
Their girls are good friends with our girls
and we have not seen them for a year.
All the girls are very excited.
Also, it is their oldest daughters birthday this weekend.
She said she would like a chocolate cake
with yellow icing.
So I thought the theme for the birthday
could be the color "yellow".
(Grandma's aren't aways that creative when
it comes to kids birthday parties.)
And I thought it would be fun for the girls
to all have the same t-shirts for the party.
We also got some yellow hair spray!!

I got the t-shirts at Michael's on sale
at 2 for $5.00.
What a good deal!!

The embroidery design is from Embroidery Library
and stitched out real nice.

Flowers in my garden

Just thought I would share some pictures
from my garden.
