Halloween

I am trying to get a picture of the kids before they
go out treating..
As you can see, there is a whole lot of goofiness going on.
All the girls loved the 1950's poodle skirts.

Trying to be cool!!

For supper we had lasagna(with bugs), french bread
and pickles.

Halloween

It's Halloween.
Jessica got up early because she got to wear
her costume to school today.
She was very excited about that.
She was feeling very pretty today.
I hope to get more pictures of all the kids tonight.

She loved her shoes.

Crinolines

So this week I needed to finish the crinolines for the poodle skirts
Here I am gathering tulle.
I am using my gathering foot.
This is one of my favorite ways to gather,
especially if you have many miles of fabric to gather.

The finished product.
Now I did not get to fancy with these.
They may only wear them once.

I made four of these.

Perhaps next year I will tell them they can go to the store
and buy a costume.
Seems to me that would be much easier.
I will get some pictures when they are all dressed up
so we can see the total look.

Canvas running shoes

Halloween is coming.
I really dislike Halloween but I am outnumbered.
So I am working on costumes again this year.

Here is a part of it.
Canvas running shoes colored with a
jiffy marker and crystals added for some bling.
The kids think they are great.

Update on linen bread bag

So you know I made a linen bread bag yesterday.
I had half a loaf of bread I started using and put it in the
the bread bag.
This morning I got the bread out to make some toast.
The bread was drying out.
It was not keeping my bread fresh.
Well now I know.
IT DOES NOT WORK.
But it is still a pretty bag and would be a nice way
to present a gift of homemade bread.

Thrifting & sewing

I went to the local thrift store yesterday.
A while back I found a Pyrex mushroom bowl.
And yesterday I found another one in a small size.
I was so excited.
I also got the little glass bowl to use for a butter dish.

And I found this pattern from 1969.
I thought this was so cute.

Sewing for Alex.
This tote bag is for a guy who is opening a thrift shop
in Vancouver.
The name of the shop is "Fabtabulous".

And she ordered a few lunch bags.
Well not very exciting stuff, but that is what I have been doing.
I was looking for cute little boy fabric but
the selection was quite dismal.

Also working on more welders caps.
The guys are asking for them
Made 7 since yesterday.
But have lots more to do.

What I am doing.

Just in case you are thinking I am not doing anything,
I thought I would show you what has been happening
in my sewing room.

A friend from Vancouver has ordered some lunch bags.
This is what I am working on today.
I have them all cut and embroidered.
All the decisions have been made.
Sometimes making the decisions is what takes me the longest.

I have made some pillowcases for her girls
as gifts.

Also been working on making more welders caps.
There seems to be quite a demand for them.
They will keep me busy for a long time yet.

She looked very cute in it.
And I forgot my camera!!
I will try and get a picture at a later date.

I am a proud mama.

My youngest daughter ran a 10K marathon this morning.
It was poring rain.
Everyone was soaked.
Well done!

Peasant top

The girls need some summer tops.
I thought some embroidery would be nice.
I should probably skirts too.
Well, I will see about that.
In the meantime, I need to do more tops.

Olivia dress

Another dress using the "Olivia" pattern

 Ethany wearing the dress.
I think it is a little big for her.
Oh well.
The way she has been eating lately I'm sure
it will fit better soon.

Just going to see if they work.

More dress pictures

So as you know, photography is not my forte.
She liked the ribbon trim on the dress.

 Kids goofing around!

 It's all fun.
