A Birthday Gift

Jessica is invited to a birthday party.
So she came to me and asked,"Grandma, could you make
some purple pajamas that say I heart Justin Bieber?  My
friend really likes him, and could they be purple?"
So here is what I make.

Now I really need to get inspired to start sewing again.
And I'm afraid Justin Bieber doesn't do it for me!!
Oh well.  Anything for the kids, eh!

New Kitchen

The contertops are in.
The over-the-range microwave is installed.
Oops!!  No toe kick yet.
But this is a much better arrangement than the old kitchen.
Still need to get things arranged better in the cabinets.
And I need to find fabric for window treatments,
although that may take a while yet.
Also would like to do something better with the light fixtures.

Renovations

Are you wondering what I have been doing?
Well not too much sewing.
Been living in a mess.

Kitchen (pre reno)
So we ripped out the old cabinets
and painted.

Had to store my dishes somewhere.
We still have to eat.

The guys are working hard.
I am watching and taking pictures.

Inspecting the cabinets!!
We got 42 inch uppers so I don' have to dust up there!!

The cabinets are all in.
We are going to go shopping tomorrow
for an over the range microvave.
No more microwave on the counter.
Hurrayyyy!!!
The countertop is coming on Thursday.

Smocking

I finally got pictures uploaded.
This is a size 8 top from issue 92 of
Australian Smocking and Embroidery.
I may have to make 2 more cause I have
2 more granddaughters to sew for.

I made it out of a poly/cotton because my
daughter does not have much time to iron.
This was a fabric from my stash purchased
at Wallmart quite a long time ago.
They used to carry some very nice poly/cottons.
Now days it is very difficult to find nice poly/cottons
which is to bad.
It's a good thing I still have a small stash!!

I am back.

I think I am back.
I got some new magazines!!
I love magazines.
And this is one of my favorites.
There where a few projects for older girls so I was excited about that.
All my girls are in a size 8 or bigger.
That's to bad cause there are such cute projects for the little ones.

I am working on a project.
This is it.
The smocking is done.
Just need to sew it together now.
I will post it soon!!

First post this year.

I have not done any sewing since Christmas.
We have been renovating the bathroom downstairs.
New paint, new vanity and taps and mirror and light fixture.
New flooring.
And a mess to clean up!!

So I thought I would just post some pictures of my machines.
I am hoping to get inspired to sew something soon.

My Babylock Elageo
I love this machine.
My Huskylock 905
This has been a good machine but--
I wish I had the Babylock Imagine!

My Pfaff 2040

My Janome Coverlock
This machine is just sitting on a shelf
because I do not have space to have it set up.
This is not as good a machine as the
Babylock Coverlock but it was cheaper.
It will skip stitches on the seams.
Very annoying!
Hence - it sits on a shelf.
