Halloween

It's Halloween.
Jessica got up early because she got to wear
her costume to school today.
She was very excited about that.
She was feeling very pretty today.
I hope to get more pictures of all the kids tonight.

She loved her shoes.

Embroidery on t-shirts

We have friends from Vancouver coming to visit this weekend.
Their girls are good friends with our girls
and we have not seen them for a year.
All the girls are very excited.
Also, it is their oldest daughters birthday this weekend.
She said she would like a chocolate cake
with yellow icing.
So I thought the theme for the birthday
could be the color "yellow".
(Grandma's aren't aways that creative when
it comes to kids birthday parties.)
And I thought it would be fun for the girls
to all have the same t-shirts for the party.
We also got some yellow hair spray!!

I got the t-shirts at Michael's on sale
at 2 for $5.00.
What a good deal!!

The embroidery design is from Embroidery Library
and stitched out real nice.

Wedding gift

These hand embroidered t-towels where a wedding gift
for my mom in 1944.
My grandmother made thenm from flour sacks.
The hem is beautifully done in a hemstitch but
the picture did not show it well so
I didn't post it.
I love these.

It is fall around here.
The kids raked up a pile of leaves.

 I made another dog pillow.
I didn't post anymore pj pants.
Thought it might be getting borring.

Birthday gift & Pincushion

A note pad holder for a birthday present.
With personalized embroidery.

With a colourful fabric on the inside.
Just need to get a pack of markers or pencil crayons.
Perfect gift for an 11 year old!

Embroidered pincushion.
I have been wanting to make this one for a long time.
It was a free design/project from Oregon Patchworks.

Still working on Christmas

I don't usually do applique so thought I would try something easy. I just hand drew the shapes. I think maybe I need a little practise in the art department. These are flannel appliques and I am going to make pj bottoms to go with the t-shirts.

Also made some vintage style embroidered pillowcases. If you click on the picture you will get a better view of the embroidery.

Lace masks for Halloween

My daughter and her girls want to be the Barbie three musketeers for halloween. Well there is no pattern so we are going to have to create our own version of the costume. I will be going to her place the week of Thanksgiving to sew. Should be lots of fun.
I am doing some of the pre-work before I go. I embroidered these lace masks and then I am going to do some more lace pieces to embellish the costumes with. The lace masks turned out real nice I think. My embroidery machine is getting a real workout these days!
