One more quilt

This is my last quilt for this year.

It is a birthday gift for my youngest grandson.

I hope he likes it.

He was a little put out when his sisters both got quilts.

Another Sunday and another birthday quilt finished.

Rebecca and I finished another birthday quilt yesterday.

And we cut the squares for our next quilt.

It was a busy but fun Sunday afternoon.

Made this pillow for a friend to give to her new granddaughter.

My summer project

I had this whole bin full of flannel pieces and decided I needed to get it used up.  So I started sewing pj pants.  I purchased t-shirts to make the tops.  I have ended up with 41 pairs of pj.s in sizes 2 - 7.

Dresses for Africa

Earlier this year I joined a group of ladies at church who where sewing little dresses for Africa.  Here is a sample of a couple that I made.

Birthday Quilt

Rebecca and I made this quilt for a birthday quilt.  I decided to make all the grands a quilt for their birthday this year.  They are all at the age where cute dresses doesn't cut it anymore.

Smocking

I had decided to start a smocking project.  Needed something to do while watching TV in the evenings.  This is the "Enchated" pattern by Annastazia Cruz.  I made it in a size 6.  I haven't done any smocking for a couple of years so I really enjoyed it.  The trouble with finishing a project is that you have to think about what to do next.

Quilting

It's been a long time since I have posted anything.
Rebecca and I have been doing quilting this summer.  But you gotta know, I am not a quilter.
So far we have made two quilts.  The blue one is for me and the yellow/black one is for her.
The thing I have learned from this is that I have a lot more to learn.  Our quilts are not show pieces but rather to be used.

Linen

I have started doing a lot of work with linen.  It is a wonderful fabric.  And it has health benefits.  You can't get better than that.  Here is a sample of a few things I have been doing.

I love the red and white stripe.

I made this tunic for myself.

I rarely sew things for myself.

But I am on this linen thing now and I really need some new clothes.

Finally - a new post!!

So I haven't posted anything for a long while,

but I have an excuse.

I have a real job and not much sewing time.

Hence, I made a lunch bag for myself.

She keeps losing them!!

That is very annoying.

 

So I am kind of on a linen kick here.

I made myself this very basic linen tunic.

I will wear it to work tomorrow.

I know it wrinkles lots!!

Oh well.

Halloween

I am trying to get a picture of the kids before they

go out treating..

As you can see, there is a whole lot of goofiness going on.

All the girls loved the 1950's poodle skirts.

Halloween

It's Halloween.

Jessica got up early because she got to wear

her costume to school today.

She was very excited about that.

She was feeling very pretty today.

I hope to get more pictures of all the kids tonight.

Crinolines

So this week I needed to finish the crinolines for the poodle skirts

Here I am gathering tulle.

I am using my gathering foot.

This is one of my favorite ways to gather,

especially if you have many miles of fabric to gather.

Now I did not get to fancy with these.

They may only wear them once.

I made four of these.

 

Perhaps next year I will tell them they can go to the store

and buy a costume.

Seems to me that would be much easier.

I will get some pictures when they are all dressed up

so we can see the total look.

Getting ready for Halloween

This is what I did this week.

I am nearly done with Halloween.

Still need to make crinolines.

Did I mention I dislike Halloween.

 I made 3 monogrammed blouses.

I really dislike Halloween but I am outnumbered.

So I am working on costumes again this year.
